Why back glass is a different job
A different job to a screen
The front screen is bonded to the frame under the display, while the back glass is bonded to the rear housing. Replacing the back means separating it from the frame, not from the display, so the job and the risk are different. On glass-back iPhones the wireless charging coil sits directly under the back glass.
Laser separation on newer iPhones
From the iPhone 8 onward, Apple bonds the back glass aggressively. Heating alone risks the wireless charging coil and the logic board beneath. We use a laser to soften the adhesive precisely, so the glass lifts without stressing the coil. Older models with plastic backs are a simpler swap.
Re-sealing for water resistance
We bond the new back with genuine adhesive and reseal the perimeter so the device keeps its water resistance. As with any sealed repair, we cannot guarantee the original IP rating, so avoid submersion.
